Your Presence is Present Enough but if you must

We are beyond grateful that you’re making the journey to Italy to celebrate with us. Having you there truly means the world to us, and your presence is the greatest gift we could ever ask for.

If you insist to contribute, we’ve included a Crate & Barrel registry along with a honeymoon fund. But please know that celebrating together is what matters most to us.

Travel Instructions

Please see below for some of our travel recommendations and instructions to help plan for your trip. If you need additional assistance, please feel free to reachout directly to either of us.

Where to Fly into

The two recommended airports are Florence & Rome.
Driving to the Borgo from Florence airport (Amerigo Vespucci) is around a 75-90 minute drive.
Driving to the Borgo from Rome airport (Leonardo da vinci international) is around a 2-2.5 hour drive.

Getting to Pienza

The easiest way to get to Pienza is by car rental, and driving through Tuscany. Please note that Ubers are not available in the countryside. We recommend renting a car in advance for the time you will be in Tuscany. The drive through Tuscany is beautiful and filled with incredible towns such as Siena and Montepulciano, and I hope renting a car allows for you to experience part of what we love about Italy before or after the wedding events. Please let us know if you need help with arranging transportation.

Hotel Recommendations in Pienza

Several Hotel options or AirBnB's to choose from within the town center

Rental Car Instructions

MUST DO:
- If you are the driver of your group, apply for an International Driving Permit
- Do NOT drive into a ZTL zone (inside the town center): there are parking lots outside of ZTL zones to park overnight.

*If you are traveling alone, and would not like to rent a car, we can help coordinate some carpools with other arriving parties

Please be aware some car rental agencies require European licenses. The "online" international driving permits are not valid and will not be accepted. Hertz, Sixt, and National all allow rentals to American License holders. Keddy and Europcar require a license from a EU country.

Click the link below to apply for the international driving permit

Reminder: Once you pay (roughly $20), you still need to go to email and continue the application process through govworks to sign, and submit application. your permit will arrive in the mail within a couple weeks, and you'll need to bring that paper with you throughout the trip.

Event Transportation

Shuttle Transportation provided on Wedding Day

Pick Up at 4 in Pienza Town Center. Hourly Drop Offs back to hotel begins at 10

For the additional events, you'll need to drive your rental car and park at the Borgo. Roughly 10 minutes from Pienza.

When to book flight & hotel accommodations

It is important to try to book both your travel and hotel accommodations as soon as possible.

If staying in Pienza, we recommend you book as soon as you can as there are not many accommodations in the area and September is peak wedding season, so we expect the hotel options to sell out.

More info about passports & visas

In order to travel you will need a passport.

Please check your passport. Your passport should be valid for MORE than 6 months from the date of departure back to America. Should your passport expire within 6 months, they may not allow you to get on the plane.

Reminder to renew or apply for your passports well in advance, some processing times have been reported to take more than 6 months from application.

The EU is planing to require visa's for American travelers into Europe in 2026. This is not official but should be an easy application process should this take into affect. We will monitor and update you all on this.

FAQ

Will the ceremony be outside?

YES! All events are going to be held outdoors. September in Tuscany is usually warm and sunny, with cooler evenings once the sun sets so a light layer is a good idea. In the event of rain, the celebration will be moved indoors.

Can I take photos during the ceremony?

We kindly ask that there are no phones or cameras during our wedding ceremony. We will leave it up to the professionals!

Will there be parking available?

Yes, there will be plenty of parking available at the Borgo. On the wedding day, we’ll be offering a complimentary shuttle, but for other event days you’re welcome to drive.

Will there be vegetarian options?

Yes of course! As two former vegetarians, there will be plenty of options! Please let us know on your RSVP if you have any food restrictions and we'll make sure you are taken care of.
